holy crap...

last night was the greys anatomy finale (possible spoiler alert) and wow was it a finale! me and my cousin emmy got together to watch it at her place. it was the most dramatic, emotional, nail biter episode i have seen in a long time, probably EVER. i was almost hyperventilating i was so upset at times. garrett reminds me this is just a tv show and i don't really know these people...but that is sure not how it feels in the middle of it. i obviously have a problem, but i don't care. anyway luckily none of my favorites died but at the end of the night me and emmy had been through quite the emotional roller coaster. thanks for having me em.

now hopefully the LOST finale will not disappoint because this definitely did not.

My First mini Triathlon, REAL Season has begun, Tennis, and some other randoms...

i have not posted in FOREVER. i just have been super lazy and have not even wanted too...well now here is an overload.

i did my first very mini triathlon on may 8th.
150 yard swim - 2.4 mile bike ride - 1.4 mile run
my sister ashlan called me the week before and had a couple people not able to do it anymore and talked me into filling in one of the empty spaces. i did pretty good for not "training" for it (i have not swam or ridden a bike in like a year) but i do workout at ozonefit so i know thats what allowed me to do ok in it. so ashlan, gaylynn, and i did it and it was fun. i had a good time, and will definitely consider another. it was the perfect size, MAYBE i will work up to a real one...one day???

here i am swimming

at the finish line (garrett missed me on the bike)

my honey was cute and came early with me to carry my bike in and out of the truck and to take pictures of course. hopefully he will be doing the next one with me. :) my cute mom came too which was very nice of her to get up early considering it was her birthday.

REAL season began!! now if it would just warm up for the games.

my little brother Jackson came with us last week and i had to post this picture, because it looks like he is totally shirtless under that red and blue jacket. he really was wearing a shirt but we got a good laugh when we saw these pictures.

of course some tennis with the wings.

we had a girls night a LONG time ago (priesthood) and made lots and lots of treats.

my mom just had a birthday and we celebrated with some yummy dinner, and this delicious cake. it is a bundt cake from the store nothing bundt cakes in sandy. they are delectable, i suggest you try one. this was the red velvet and it was really good but not as good as the chocolate chocolate chip we got the first time (and i'm not a chocolate lover).

and i just wanted to post this..i love his smile.

we have also seen some good movies. iron man 2 of course and robin hood this past weekend. we enjoyed both of them quite a bit! gotta love the movies. p.s. has anyone been to the century in bountiful since it got redone? if so how is it? worth giving a shot? we are sooo ready for summer, can't wait for some HOT weather!

Happy St. Pattys Day!

today i had my first meal of corn beef and cabbage in honor of st. pattys day. i was surprised to find out that i enjoyed it as much as i did. i thought i hated cabbage but i actually liked it. it is amazing the things we find out we like once we actually try them...i guess i should speak for myself. so thank you to gaylynn for having us over for this st. pattys day tradition!

now i really want some of these red velvet cupcakes with a little green food coloring going on. they are oh so cute and look delicious! i got these pictures off of bakerella. i just discovered this blog last night off of another friends blog, and i am loving it. it is bringing out the inner domestic goddess in me.

i just thought this was a cute little hat and shamrock.
happy st. pattys day everyone!
p.s. happy birthday to ashley on last sunday, ashlan on monday, and lindsey today! hope you all had great birthdays!
p.s.s. soooo happy about this spring weather we have been enjoying! keep it coming!

Wonderful Day

this last friday my cousin emmy got married. i did her hair, so the day started bright and early at 7:15 a.m., and then it was off to the ceremony, the luncheon, and later on the reception. she has been living at my moms house for the last year and a half while going to school at the u of u, so we have gotten to be pretty close. she made a beautiful bride, and they are a great couple. we are so happy for you emmy and aaron! we love you!

it was also a very fun day, because i got to spend the whole day with my sister, and when i say the whole day i mean like 15 hours! our husbands weren't able to get the day off for the ceremony and the luncheon and were going to meet us at the reception so we drove out together to save on gas. she picked me up at 9 to go to the ceremony, then after that we did a little shopping at nordstrom! always fun. then came the luncheon and the reception. after the reception we decided to go see a late show of dear john. so we sent our husbands home and continued the girls day with a sob fest at dear john. it was fun to get some sister time. especially now that we get along, growing up...not so much, but now she is my best friend (you too linds). love you ash, hopefully you didn't get too sick of me :)

the last couple of weeks...

we have been up to quite a bit the last couple of weeks, here is a little sampler.

garretts good friend nic turned 30, and his wife threw an awesome party with tons of yummy yummy food. it was a fun night, most of garretts friends have kids which makes them much busier than us so we don't get to see them very often, so it is always a treat when we do! the two pictures below are some of garretts best friends from high school.

from the back..

from the front..

we also went to sundance with the wings. we had an always delicious dinner at baja cantina, love that place! then we went and walked around on main street. it was FREEZING, but fun to be up in that atmosphere. it snowed the entire time we were there, so the drive home was an hour and a half, with about an hour + of that being in the canyon. needless to say thanks jimmy for your patience and getting us home safely!

-here are some pictures from the evening-

we saw "chloe" from 24. not even sure of her real name. she was pretty nice, and let us take a picture with her..too bad she is blinking. ah well.

and of course it would not be an outing if garrett did not make a new friend. even better they bonded over there love of star wars.

and yay, my little brother got home from his mission on last thursday 1/28/10, at 2:15 p.m. the whole family was there to greet him an the airport. here are all the nieces and nephews waiting to see unlce jackson.

there he is! (you can't really see him, i know)

welcome home elder broderick!

it has been a good couple of weeks. garrett also had a cousin get married this last weekend, and we were able to attend the wedding dinner and also the wedding reception. and this weekend my cousin emmy gets married! so excited for her, only 2 days left! more to come on that later.

Snowmobiling 2010

so in the winter garretts family goes on a snowmobiling trip in the uintahs. this is year number 3 so i think we can consider it a tradition by now, that will hopefully continue. we stay at a place called bear river lodge in christmas meadows, utah, about 25-30 min. outside of evanston. it is a cute little group of cabins, that are homey, clean, and well kept. they also have a LARGE hot tub, that is wonderful to soak in at about 1:00 a.m. (that is davis time for most peoples 10:30-11:00 p.m.). luckily i am a bit of night owl myself. the past couple of years we have rented a snowmobile for one of the days, but we decided to save the money this year. anyone who knows me, knows that i have grown to hate the cold and the idea of being bundled in that many layers with a giant helmet that makes it impossible to hear anything except the noisy engine for hours (what seems like an eternity to me)...so needless to say i was none to sad about the idea of saving some money and skipping the snowmobiling part. now i know i sound really boring and negative, i really do enjoy being outdoors, just not in the cold anymore. i wish i did. anyway, it was really nice garrett and i got the whole cabin to ourselves all day saturday. we watched a movie, took naps, had some cheese and sparkling cider, and just lounged around all day. so so nice, that is a vacation if you ask me. sunday no one rented snowmobiles, so we all slept in, had a big breakfast, watched a movie, played games, ate some more, and just enjoyed each others company. oh and the hot tub, way later on. then it was home on monday. it was a very nice relaxing weekend, just what we needed!

me with the sparkling cider, cheese, and yes that is a pink snuggie-thanks ash and brady!

garrett with all of his green skittles

he was lucky with the dice that night

i have to talk about the famous "skittle game" - you have a large bowl of skittles in the middle of the table, everyone has there own smaller bowl and a straw. you quickly go around the table rolling a pair of dice. if you get a 7, 11, or doubles you get the big bowl of skittles and then you suck as many skittles into your own bowl with your straw, until of course someone else rolls 7, 11, or doubles, and they take it away. i must say i usually dominate as this game, until ginas husband teaguer came along, then i had some good competition. but not this time, first of all i NEVER rolled what i needed & every time i did (garrett was sitting right next to me) i kid you not he took it right away so i had time to maybe suck 1 or 2 skittles. i was furious!!!! and the worst part is, is that garrett only sucked the green ones..what is that about, and he won!!! he is usually not even a competitor in this game. just goes to show you, you never know whats going to happen. still mad at him..oh ya, he also got his highest score in yahtzee that night and rolled two yahtzees. he should have been in vegas instead.

headed to the hot tub
(not sure why the picture has lines in it)

on the way home :(

Christmas & New Years 2009

the holidays have come and gone. hard to believe they are over yet again, they go by way too fast every year. they are busy, but it is always so fun to be with family. some of our events for the month of december included: family parties with my moms side, dads side, and garretts dads side, garretts company party, christmas concert with the mormon tabernacle choir, the buds 5th annual sweater party, and of course garretts 30th birthday party! unfortunately i really didn't get too many pictures of the birthday party but it was fun. we ate fettucine alfredo for dinner and better than sex cake for dessert, and enjoyed great company all night long. here are some pictures from some of our outings.

at the sweater party we are fortunate enough to be invited to

garrett won for his whole ensemble!

(i don't know why it is so blurry if you click on it, its better)

for new years we first went to garretts sisters for a crab party. it is always good to see some of garretts friends that we don't get to see very often. then we went to lindsey and jimmys to ring in the new year. they are always gracious hosts and always have red vines. :)

the browns

happy new year!

the wings

new years day was also fun. it is so rare when garrett and i get a day off together because i work on saturdays when he is off, so it is fun to get to spend the whole day together. we went to the outlets in park ciry with my family and did a little shopping with christmas money. then we lunched at baja cantina...yummy mexican food. then we met up with some of garretts family and saw avatar. which i was very hesitant to see but i actually did enjoy it and garrett loved it. so we would suggest that, maybe not in 3d though, the glasses bugged.

2009 was a good year, a few great trips, new job for garrett, me becoming an independent stylist, and just spending another year together. we are blessed with wonderful friends and family surrounding us and just feel blessed with life in general, really not too many complaints. our big new years resolution for 2010-get a house! and many other things as well. we hope everyone had a happy new year and hope for the best in 2010-a new decade! crazy.
